Your cooling system keeps the engine at a safe temperature. It's the radiator, water pump, thermostat, hoses, fans and coolant working together. In Darwin heat, with a 4WD towing or loaded up, it works hard, and when one part fails the engine can overheat and be badly damaged.
Signs of a cooling problem
- The temperature gauge sitting higher than normal or climbing when you tow
- Coolant on the ground under the front of the vehicle
- Steam from under the bonnet
- The low coolant light coming on, or the overflow bottle dropping
- A sweet smell from leaking coolant
- The heater blowing cold
If the gauge goes into the red, pull over and switch off. Driving on with an overheating engine can warp heads and blow head gaskets.

Radiator replacement and upgrades
When a radiator is cracked, badly blocked or corroded, replacement is the better option. We can supply and fit new or reconditioned radiators. For vehicles that tour or tow regularly we also fit heavy-duty radiators and better fans.

Our workshop work carries a 3-month or 5,000 km workmanship warranty, whichever comes first. The details are in our terms of sale. Used parts we supply come with our 3-month Silver warranty, and you can upgrade any part to Gold (6 months) or Platinum (12 months) when you buy.
