What happens to a vehicle we wreck
We've been wrecking 4x4s, utes and vans in Darwin for over 20 years. A wrecked vehicle isn't scrap to us. It's engines, gearboxes, diffs, panels and hundreds of smaller parts that can keep other vehicles on the road, especially older models that dealers no longer support.
Here's how a vehicle goes from arriving at our Winnellie yard to parts on the shelf, and what happens to everything else.

How we wreck a vehicle

Made safe
Fuel, oil, coolant and other fluids are drained, and the battery comes out before anything else.

Stripped for parts
Engines, gearboxes, transfer cases, diffs, suspension, panels, interiors and electrical parts are removed.

Checked and tested
Parts are checked before they're sold, so what goes out the door is worth fitting.

Logged and shelved
Every part is recorded in our stock system, so we can find it fast when someone calls with a rego or part number.

Shell recycled
Once the useful parts are off, the shell goes to a scrap metal recycler.

Parts back on the road
Used parts go out over the counter, by freight anywhere in Australia, or fitted in our own workshop.
Fluids, batteries and tyres
The parts of a vehicle that can't be reused still need to be dealt with properly. Waste oil, batteries and tyres go to licensed recyclers, and the metal shell goes to a scrap metal recycler.
Buying a used part keeps it out of the waste stream too. It's often the cheapest fix, and for an older 4x4 it's sometimes the only one.
